Effective Engagement for Service Users and Carers

This part of the Guide is particularly for people who use services and carers. It includes the example of the Service User and Carer Group in Glasgow who assisted in the preparation of this Guide and give their own top tips about training for other service users and carers in the final section. test We illustrate how our model of good practice can be used to develop engagement that is effective for service users and carers themselves. We propose that respectful relationships depend on recognising the expertise of service users and carers. A successful learning environment will be one where there are opportunities for personal development and where service users and carers can learn new and transferable skills. The organisational capacity of service users and carers can be strengthened where there is support for a network of individuals and groups.
